THE PEOPLE FROM THE VINEYARD

A documentary film by EMMANUELLE NOBÉCOURT

Written by JEANNE BUREL and EMMANUELLE NOBÉCOURT

This documentary recounts 140 years of history of wine making, since the end of the 19th century.
The history, first of all, of the men and women who have worked in the vineyards. The history of perpetuated traditions, of challenges faced, of struggles against the whims of nature and economic ups and downs. The history of the unprecedented evolutions that this profession has known during the 20th century, which embraces the great societal, cultural, political, technical and ecological upheavals of French history.
By mixing colororized archive footage and testimonies from present-day winegrowers from different generations, this great historical fresco tells the story of a multisecular profession in perpetual mutation, which has never stopped renewing itself, adapting to the vagaries of history.
